This opportunity is designed for students looking to build foundational knowledge in IT support, systems, and operations. You’ll contribute to a wide variety of operational and administrative tasks such as inventory tracking, hardware setup, user account provisioning, and internal documentation—all while learning how IT teams function in a fast-paced, enterprise setting.

Who you are

  • You’re currently enrolled in a post-secondary IT, Computer Science, or related program and are eager to build a career in IT support or systems administration.

  • You’re tech-curious and ready to learn, whether it’s troubleshooting hardware, updating documentation, or assisting with internal IT tasks.

  • You’re organized, reliable, and bring a proactive, team-oriented attitude to everything you do.

  • You communicate clearly, manage your time well, and are comfortable asking questions when you need help.

  • You have strong attention to detail and are comfortable with Microsoft 365, Windows, and basic hardware components.

What you’ll do

  • Support the Service Desk and Desktop Support teams with operational tasks, user requests, and documentation.

  • Assist with basic triage via phone, chat, or email (under supervision) and log requests using IT service management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).

  • Monitor queues and help update tickets with notes and follow-ups.

  • Assist with hardware setup, device imaging, and deployment for onboarding or transitioning staff.

  • Help maintain accurate inventory records for laptops, peripherals, and IT accessories.

  • Participate in inventory audits and procurement coordination.

  • Assist with account provisioning and deprovisioning (Active Directory, email, system access).

  • Support internal software installations and updates based on process guides.

  • Contribute to small IT projects like documentation updates, hardware rollouts, and software audits.

  • Perform general troubleshooting prep work and support team members with ad hoc tasks.

What you bring

  • Currently enrolled in a Diploma or Degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • 0–1 year of experience in a technical support or IT-related role (co-ops, academic projects, part-time or volunteer work welcome).

  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word) and Windows OS.

  • Basic understanding of common hardware components.

  • Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Willingness to take direction and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

  • Interest in growing your career in IT support, systems, or desktop services.

  • Bonus skills:

  • Exposure to IT service management tools like ServiceNow or Jira.

  • Experience with inventory tracking or understanding of asset lifecycle in IT.

Internal Applicants: Please note that the internal posting closes on May 8th, 2025, and the role is a Grade 5 position.

The salary range for this position is $22.68/hr to $28.35/hr and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity.
