We’re looking for 2 Regular Full-Time Subrogation Specialists to join our Claims team. In this role, you’ll help us recover costs on behalf of our Members by reviewing liability decisions, identifying subrogation opportunities, and setting thoughtful recovery targets.

You’ll take the lead in pursuing and negotiating settlements on subrogation files, handling a dedicated portfolio with professionalism, integrity, and strong attention to detail. You’ll also work closely with adjusters, examiners, and legal partners to ensure each case is managed thoroughly and with our Members’ best interests at heart.

What You’ll Do:

  • Review alerts from adjusters and examiners to confirm subrogation potential and ensure each file has the information needed for a proper liability assessment

  • Compile, analyze, and verify investigative details—including evidence, documentation, and file notes—and provide direction to adjusters where further steps are required.

  • Determine degree of liability and set fair, well supported recovery targets in collaboration with your manager.

  • Prepare and send subrogation packages to third parties and initiate recovery actions within required timeframes, including filing court documents when necessary.

  • Communicate with insured Members as needed to support clarity, understanding, and positive claim outcomes.

  • Manage a portfolio of subrogation files end to end, including negotiating settlements, following up purposefully on recovery efforts, and seeking approval when abandoning pursuit.

  • Work with legal counsel when required and make recommendations on when counsel involvement is appropriate.

  • Examine select claims with independent adjusters and sample claim files proactively to identify subrogation opportunities, trends, or emerging patterns.

  • Maintain accurate, organized documentation—including standardized correspondence—and contribute to reporting on subrogation activities, recovery results, and performance metrics.

  • Act as a subject matter expert for the claims team, sharing guidance, insights, and best practices to support continuous improvement.

  • Participate in related projects and other duties as assigned to advance subrogation practices and Member experience.

What You Bring:

  • 5–9 years of experience in property and liability claims adjusting, with exposure to subrogation, litigation, or large loss file handling.

  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian Inter Company Arbitration Agreement, including hands on experience managing claims through the agreement’s processes.

  • Demonstrated understanding of legal research and claims related to legal procedures, with the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation.

  • Working knowledge of the BC Insurance Act and its application in claims and recovery workflows.

  • Solid technical skills, including intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and familiarity with claims management software.

The salary range for this position is $75,363.00 to $94,203.84 and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 9%, with the opportunity to earn up to 15%
