BCAA is looking for a dedicated Regular Full-Time Fleet Apprentice Technician (Level 1) to join our team and grow their career in automotive maintenance and repair in our Burnaby Depot.
This hands-on role provides the opportunity to learn directly from experienced automotive technicians while developing practical skills in diagnostics, routine servicing, and the use of specialized tools and equipment. The Apprentice Technician will be committed to continuous improvement in both technical expertise and customer service, playing a key role in upholding BCAA’s reputation as one of BC’s most trusted organizations.

What you’ll do
Assist in completing mechanical services and repairs under the guidance of trained Technicians.
Learn to operate diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
Support fellow Technicians with repair tasks as needed.
Deliver a high level of customer service to ensure member satisfaction.
Participate in automotive training programs as assigned by BCAA.
Follow all environmental and safety regulations to ensure compliance with BCAA and WorkSafe BC standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the ERS shop.
Support achievement of shop KPIs and continuously strive for improvement.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Maintain cleanliness and safety of the ERS parking lot, shop entrances, and general facility.
Support upkeep of Road Assist fleet vehicles by ensuring fuel levels, cleanliness, and proper waste removal.
Conduct vehicle inspections and report on cleanliness, fuel levels, and equipment condition.
Stock and rotate batteries and equipment in spare vehicles to ensure operational readiness.
Assist with new vehicle outfitting and equipment installations.
Support small tool and equipment fulfillment, inventory receiving, and stock tracking.
Manage returns and repairs by ensuring items are properly labeled and processed.
Maintain inventory systems and track all new tools and equipment appropriately.
Perform additional duties as required to support overall shop operations.
Continually improve your skill set, fulfilling the requirements of the Red Seal training program while maintaining a passing grade in the apprenticeship program.
What you bring
Completion of Automotive Provincial Apprenticeship level exams.
Completion of Upgrade Training of current automotive technologies, with a focus on OBD-II courses.
One to four years of technical experience within an automotive repair facility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to lift 50 lbs, bend, reach, walk and stand for long periods of time
Experience with welding and fabricating with steel and aluminum
Proficiency with MS Outlook and modern scan tools
A clean BC Driver License Class 7 or better

The salary range for this position is $45,406.32 to $56,757.84 and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 5%, with the opportunity to earn up to 9%.
