What’s the role?

This opportunity offers the ability to work remotely from anywhere in British Columbia. Preference for candidates based on Vancouver Island.

As Senior Manager, Internal Audit you will play a key role in leading and executing internal audits that assess the effectiveness of the organization’s governance, risk management, and internal control processes. Reporting to the  AVP, Internal Audit, this role supports the development of multi-year audit plans, promotes agile audit techniques and data analytics, and oversees the daily activities of internal audit staff. The Senior Manager also provides consultative services and contributes to strategic initiatives that enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Internal Audit function.

Your duties will include:

• Leadership: Lead internal audit teams in planning and executing complex financial, operational, and compliance audits, oversee daily activities, and support the development and growth of audit staff.
Audit Planning and Delivery: Contribute to multi‑year audit plans, apply agile audit techniques and data analytics, set audit objectives, assess risks, and ensure high‑quality execution of audit engagements.
Internal Control Assessment: Evaluate internal control design and operating effectiveness, identify gaps and improvement opportunities, and prepare clear audit reports and executive summaries for senior leadership and the Audit Committee.
Advisory and Consultation: Provide advisory support to committees such as ERM, Compliance, and project implementation teams, offering insights that strengthen risk management and organizational decision‑making.
Collaboration and Alignment: Work closely with business units to facilitate discussions, secure management responses, and ensure audit activities align with Coastal’s strategic objectives and risk framework.
Audit Standards and Improvement: Lead initiatives to enhance audit methodologies, improve audit effectiveness, and ensure compliance with the updated IIA Global Standards and Principles.

What are we looking for:

  • Post-secondary degree in business, accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional designation such as CPA, CIA, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of people leadership experience.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of direct audit experience, ideally within financial services.
  • Advanced understanding of internal control frameworks and Global Internal Audit Standards.
  • Experience with audit software (e.g., TM+), analytics tools (e.g., ACL), and continuous auditing methods.
  • Advanced understanding of credit union operations, principles, and values.

Career Band Range (Annual Salary) - $92,000.00 to $137,579.00

The posted salary range is designed to reflect a broad career band, encompassing a variety of roles within our organization and serves as a general guideline. Your final compensation will be tailored to your unique skills, experience, and the responsibilities of the role.
