The Senior Learning Partner is a strategic and hands-on learning consultant who partners closely with leaders, HR, and internal stakeholders to enable business outcomes through practical, high-impact learning solutions. This role balances strong consulting capability with execution, supporting enterprise priorities, line of business needs, compliance requirements, and future skill development.
The role works closely with the Senior Manager, Learning & Development to intake, scope, prioritize, design, deliver, and measure learning solutions that are realistic, scalable, and aligned to Meridian’s strategy and workforce needs.
Key Responsibilities
Learning & Development Consulting
- Act as a trusted learning advisor to assigned lines of business, building strong, ongoing relationships with business leaders and partners.
- Consult with leaders to understand business goals, performance challenges, compliance needs, and skill gaps, translating them into clear learning recommendations.
- Influence and guide stakeholders without formal authority, helping them make informed decisions about learning approaches, scope, and timing.
- Support intake and prioritization of learning requests in a high-volume environment, balancing impact, capacity, and business urgency.
Analysis & Evaluation
- Lead learning needs analysis using practical methods such as interviews, stakeholder conversations, data review, learner feedback, and operational insights.
- Partner with subject matter experts, HRBPs, and business teams to validate needs and confirm root causes of performance gaps.
- Define clear learning objectives and success measures at the outset of programs.
- Apply Kirkpatrick evaluation principles pragmatically, focusing on learner experience, application, and business impact where feasible.
- Use insights and data to continuously improve learning solutions, content quality, and delivery effectiveness.
Learning Design, Delivery & Advisory
- Design and deliver blended learning solutions that reflect how employees actually work today, including live facilitation, virtual sessions, curated content, performance support, and digital learning.
- Be hands-on in delivery when needed, facilitating sessions and supporting rollouts, particularly for priority business initiatives or capacity gaps.
- Ensure a strong learner experience across all touchpoints, keeping learning practical, clear, and accessible.
- Provide ongoing advisory support to leaders and teams to help embed learning into day-to-day work and reinforce behaviour change.
- Collaborate with other Learning Partners to elevate quality, consistency, and reuse of learning assets.
Learning Technology & Operational Excellence
- Leverage and support effective use of the L&D technology ecosystem, including the LMS, and third-party platforms.
- Ensure learning solutions are implemented with operational discipline, including scheduling, communications, tracking, and reporting.
- Support compliance training delivery and reporting by ensuring learning is accurate, timely, auditable, and learner-friendly.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of L&D processes, templates, standards, and ways of working.
Industry Knowledge & Future Skills
- Stay informed on trends related to learning, workforce transformation, AI enablement, and capability development in financial services.
- Bring forward ideas and new ways of thinking and working.
- Support enterprise capability-building efforts by translating external trends into relevant, actionable learning solutions.
Knowledge, Skills & Capabilities
- Strong business acumen with the ability to understand operational realities and tailor learning accordingly.
- Proven consulting and relationship management skills across multiple stakeholder levels.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects of various scales and complexities.
- Ability to move between strategic thinking and hands-on execution with ease.
- Solid grounding in adult learning principles, instructional design, and learning evaluation.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on clarity and practicality.
- Comfort learning and adopting new digital tools, with an openness to using AIâenabled technology to enhance productivity, accuracy, and the Member experience.
Education, Work Experience, and Professional Designations/Certifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in learning and development, with a focus on consultation.
- Adult Learning Certificate or Degree – completed or equivalent professional experience.
- Post-secondary education.
- Financial Services experience considered an asset.
This role represents an existing vacancy. Internal candidates are being considered as part of our standard process.
Salary Range: CAD $68,800.00 to $103,200.00 annually.
Compensation for this role is based on a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Candidates with stronger alignment to the role’s requirements may be placed higher within the range. Your recruiter will share more information about our total rewards package during the hiring process.
Office Location: Toronto Corporate Office located at 3280 Bloor St W, Etobicoke, ON or St. Catharines Corporate Office, located at 75 Corporate Park Drive, St. Catharines, ON.
