About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Full-Stack Software Developer (Python/React) to join our growing AI Engineering team and build reliable, scalable AI-powered products across distributed systems, frontend and backend development, cloud infrastructure, information extraction, and LLM services.
What you’ll do here:
- Design and evolve event-driven, distributed systems using queue-based pipelines, fan-out/fan-in, backpressure, idempotency, and reliable failure and retry handling.
- Develop and maintain frontend and backend components that support our algorithms and AI-powered features.
- Build production LLM solutions, including cloud model integration and optimization of quality, latency, and cost.
- Develop information extraction pipelines covering classification, OCR, document layout analysis, model-based extraction, prompt design, refinement, and validation.
- Own frontend foundations, including monorepo package management, build orchestration, shared React components, TypeScript architecture, and build performance.
- Design and maintain Terraform infrastructure, including reusable modules, remote state, provider pinning, and multi-environment layouts.
- Contribute to AWS architecture, including networking, load balancing, API gateways, IAM, encryption and key management, and log and metric delivery.
- Design CI/CD workflows with reusable pipelines, environment matrices, and production approval gates.
- Support component, integration, and automated UI testing, including local test environments using emulated cloud services.
- Establish observability through structured logging, custom metrics, and queries that trace failures across distributed pipelines.
- Optimize containerized services for performance and cost through appropriate sizing, concurrency tuning, and bottleneck analysis.
- Define development standards and technical strategies that promote quality, efficiency, resilience, maintainability, and sustainability.
- Collaborate on prioritization, resolve technical issues, improve team productivity, and mentor Squad members as a Technical Leader.
What you bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related field—or equivalent education and experience.
- At least five years of significant software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python, TypeScript, React, AWS, and REST APIs using Swagger/OpenAPI.
- Experience with distributed systems and event-driven architectures, including asynchronous processing, retries, idempotency, backpressure, and failure recovery.
- Experience with frontend architecture, monorepos, shared React component libraries, TypeScript type design, and build and bundle optimization.
- Experience with Terraform, including module design, remote state, provider pinning, and multi-environment infrastructure.
- Broad AWS knowledge covering networking, load balancing, API gateways, IAM, encryption, key management, logging, and metrics.
- Experience designing CI/CD systems with reusable workflows, environment matrices, and production approval processes.
- Production experience taking LLM- or model-backed features from prototype to reliable service, including cloud model integration and quality, latency, and cost management.
- Knowledge of AI, generative AI, RAG, MLOps, prompt design, OCR, document layout analysis, and information extraction.
- Experience with component, integration, and automated UI testing.
- Strong observability and troubleshooting skills, including structured logging, custom metrics, and tracing failures through distributed systems.
- Strong documentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country
Nice-to-have:
- Experience leading migrations involving a dependency manager, CI platform, or infrastructure layout.
- Experience designing local development and integration-test environments using emulated cloud services.
- Experience optimizing containerized services for cost and performance, including workload sizing, concurrency tuning, and bottleneck analysis.
- Experience mentoring developers or serving as a Technical Lead.
