POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Advisor, Product Management is a key contributor to BDC’s financial product strategy and execution. In this role, you will shape the design, development, enhancement, and performance management of products that enable Canadian entrepreneurs to thrive. You will drive forward‑looking product innovation, ensuring each solution balances customer needs, financial performance, risk considerations, and public‑policy objectives.

Working cross‑functionally with business, risk, finance, technology, legal, and operational teams, the Senior Advisor turns strategic concepts into well‑defined, high‑impact product initiatives. The role requires a blend of strategic thinking, analytical depth, and strong execution discipline.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

1. Product Strategy

  • Identify emerging trends in SME financing, competitive dynamics, and client needs to inform strategic product priorities.

  • Lead opportunity assessments, including competitiveness analysis, eligibility criteria evaluation, and portfolio performance insights.

  • Develop clear value propositions, pricing strategies, and product positioning that support BDC’s mandate and business goals.

2. Product Development & Lifecycle Management

  • Lead the complete product lifecycle: ideation, validation, design, development, launch, monitoring, enhancement, and retirement.

  • Build and maintain multi‑year product roadmaps that integrate enterprise priorities, customer insights, financial targets, and operational impacts.

  • Develop business cases and prepare documentation for governance committees, ensuring timely and well‑aligned decision‑making.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Risk, Finance, Legal, Operations, Technology, and Marketing to ensure product readiness, compliance, and operational feasibility.

  • Facilitate working sessions, validation discussions, and training to ensure alignment and adoption across internal teams.

  • Champion modernization initiatives, digital capabilities, and enterprise transformation programs within the product portfolio.

4. Governance, Risk & Execution

  • Ensure adherence to governance frameworks, risk thresholds, and regulatory considerations throughout product design and delivery.

  • Conduct end‑to‑end impact assessments, ensuring readiness across business lines and operational functions.

  • Monitor product KPIs, track performance, and recommend refinements or strategic pivots based on insights and evolving needs.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, business administration, finance, or a related field.

  • 7–10+ years of experience in lending products, credit frameworks, financial programs, or financial services strategy.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

  • Proven experience leading product development initiatives across cross‑functional teams.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

  • Bilingual (English/French) preferred for national‑level mandates.
