The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Governance & Project Management Office, the Governance Officer plays a key role in supporting Boards of Directors, Executive Leadership and the Office of the Corporate Secretary. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, confidential environment and enjoys coordinating complex governance and operational activities.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support governance meetings by preparing agendas and materials, recording, transcribing, and distributing minutes, and maintaining official records for shareholders, Board Committees, Management Committees, and Executive Leadership meetings
  • Maintain Boards and Executive policies, including tracking compliance and policy review schedules, coordinating updates, and communicating changes to stakeholders
  • Co-manage the development and on-going maintenance of the Board website
  • Organize and manage logistics for corporate meetings, Board meetings, and events, including venues, accommodations, technology, and catering
  • Coordinate Shareholder meetings and conferences, including registration, vendor relationships, and standard contract negotiations
  • Oversee corporate filing systems and manage the relationship with document service providers
  • Serve as primary liaison with property manager and janitorial contractor, ensuring premises standards are upheld
  • Support departmental planning and budgeting; monitor expenses and recommend corrective actions where needed
  • Contribute to special projects and other duties as assigned

  • Completion of a one-to-two-year post- secondary business program
  • A minimum of five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • High attention to detail and discretion when handling confidential information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder coordination skills

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time, one-year contract position at Salary Level S3 with a competitive salary range of $72,115- $84,842.

Atlantic Central offers a comprehensive benefits package and the opportunity to participate in the Performance Sharing Incentive Plan.

Location & Flexibility

Based in our Halifax, NS office, this role offers flexibility for remote work.

Work Schedule

This position requires occasional evening or weekend work and occasional travel.
